Eating for Summer

If we take a moment to stop and listen, our bodies naturally crave the foods which are in season. This means we are more likely to reach for hydrating and fresh foods during the hotter months. Below are some simple ways to boost your health this spring and summer.

  • Cut fruit and veg into small portions and store in the freezer for smoothies. Combinations such as mango, banana, steamed cauliflower and chia seeds or spinach, kiwi fruit, pear, cucumber and avocado work well. Just add ice and your milk of choice.

  • Get creative with salads and enjoy alongside a source of protein for dinner and lunch. Check out the recipes on Gather and Feast.

  • If you don’t have time to make a fancy salad, dress up ordinary salad leaves with the best poppy seed dressing ever

  • Make Bircher muesli at the start of your week for a quick and healthy breakfast on the go. Top with fresh fruit and yoghurt.

  • For those who love a BBQ, take ordinary meat to the next level with marinades packed with herbs and spices. Avoid store bought marinades as these are higher in sugar, salt and preservatives. Did you know, herbs and spices are nutrient powerhouses!

  • Not a big fan of water? Fill your water bottle with a combination of lemon, fresh berries, lychee flesh, peach slices, cucumber or mint to make it a little more exciting.
